Children’s Ministries
B2K (Birth to Kindergarten) Years
The Birth to Kindergarten Ministry strives to create a process that bonds parents and children into the body of Christ prior to the start of school. Activities include Faith Stepping Stones 1, 2, and 3, and outings such as the apple orchard or a park. B2K families meet quarterly during the school year.
Children's Discipleship Hour
Resurrection’s Sunday morning education program - Discipleship Hour - is an action-packed experience for kids to learn about the Bible. Children spend several weeks on each Bible lesson, rotating through activities such as storytelling, drama, computers, science, cooking, movies, art, and games.
Kid's Club
The Kid's Club Ministry builds faith and relationships among our families with elementary age children. Activities include Faith Stepping Stones 4 and 5, and fellowship outings. Kid’s Club meets one Sunday per month during the school year, after 10:45 a.m. worship.
Faith Stepping Stones
The eight Faith Stepping Stones short courses equip parents to be faith mentors to their children from cradle to graduation. Stepping Stones for children include 1. Raising a Baby, 2. Raising a Toddler, 3. Entry Into School, 4. My Bible and 5. Livin’ Forgiven.
Vacation Bible School (VBS)
The Vacation Bible School Ministry Team coordinates the fun-filled summer Vacation Bible School program for children 3 years old through 5th graders. VBS is a morning program, normally held the first part of June.
Youth Ministries
Faith Builders (Middle School)
The Faith Builders Ministry nurtures our middle school-age youth. Activities include Faith Stepping Stones 6 and 7, Sunday morning Discipleship (education) Hour, confirmation camp, and the confirmation program. The lively and popular confirmation program emphasizes building faith and Christ-centered relationships.. Activities include a meal, and small and large group activities. It is held on Sunday evenings about twice monthly, from 5:30-7:35pm.
Youth Group (High School)
The Youth Group Ministry nurtures our high school-age youth in their relationships with Christ and each other. Youth participate in learning activities, fellowship outings, service opportunities, summer trips and Faith Stepping Stone 8. The Youth Group meets during the weekly Sunday morning Discipleship (education) Hour, and on Sunday evenings about twice monthly, from 5:30-7:35 pm.
Youth/Faith-Builders Discipleship Hour
The Youth Group and Faith Builders Sunday morning Discipleship Hour education program engages the youth in popular culture, relating what is happening in their world to being a Christian. Typically, each group watches clips from recent film releases and engages in conversation about spiritual issues.
College Years
The College Years Ministry feels it is important to remain in contact with RLC disciples who have gone away to college, and to let them know we still support them. To let them know we are thinking of them, we send the students a card each fall and a finals “snack pack” each spring.
Adult Ministries
Adult Discipleship Hour
The Sunday morning Adult Discipleship Hour provides a range of faith development opportunities, including Bible study,interactive discussion around contemporary themes, and book studies.
ChristCare Small Groups
ChristCare Small Groups provide RLC disciples and others with small group opportunities for faith development. Activities include four elements: Community Building and Care, Biblical Equipping, Prayer/Worship, and Missional Service. Currently, about 70 people participate in seven ChristCare groups. Groups meet twice monthly; schedules vary by group.
Creation Care
The Creation Care Ministry strives to develop a congregation that is informed and inspired about caring for and protecting God’s gift of creation. We provide information and conduct workshops exploring topics such as the religious/Biblical foundations of Creation Caring, environmental stewardship questions, and how our choices impact our world.
Faithful Stewards
The Faithful Stewards Ministry seeks to educate, inspire and challenge Resurrection disciples to live into the freedom and joy of first-fruits, proportionate giving. This ministry coordinates a year-round culture of faithful generosity, and carries out an annual stewardship emphasis.
Men’s Breakfast
The Men’s Breakfast Ministry coordinates a monthly men’s gathering for food, fellowship, Bible study and discussion. The Men’s Breakfast is held on the second Saturday of each month, from 7:30-9:00 a.m. All men are welcome.
Senior Adult Ministry
The Senior Adult Ministry (a.k.a. SAMS) serves all RLC adults and their guests, providing fellowship and outreach opportunities, educational speakers, and local day trips to attractions such as Hunter’s Honey Farm, the University of Indianapolis, etc. SAMS meets on the third Tues. of the month; times vary.
Small Groups
RLC is open to a variety of small and large groups which nurture relationships with God and fellow disciples. Groups may range from small groups of four to twelve peoplegathering for Bible study, up to larger groups of dozens gathering for fellowship events.
WELCA (Women of the ELCA)
WELCA strives to nurture the women of RLC through Bible studies (2nd Thurs./month at 9:15 a.m.), denominational and inter-faith gatherings, social activities,an annual bake sale fundraiser for global missions, and hands-on projects such as quilt/school kit-making,bandage-rolling (with youth group), and knitting/crocheting baby items for global ministries.
Women’s Breakfast
The Women’s Breakfast Ministry coordinates a monthly women’s gathering for food, fellowship, Bible study and discussion. The usual format is a book study, including titles such as Seeds of Faith by Jeremy Langford. The Women’s Breakfast is held one Saturday morning per month from 8:00 -9:30 a.m. All women are welcome.
Fellowship Ministries
Agape Feast
The Agape Feast Ministry Team coordinates a candlelit banquet as the concluding event of Maundy Thursday worship. It is a celebration with those participating in their First Communion that evening, and a symbolic “foretaste of the feast to come.” The ministry team coordinates food, set-up, and clean-up following the event.
Camp Olivet Weekend
The Camp Olivet Ministry organizes a relaxed, overnight fellowship event for all ages, in September, at Camp Olivet in the southern Indiana hills. Highlights: games, outdoor activities, an evening campfire, and Sunday morning outdoor worship. Participants arrive Saturday afternoon, and depart after Sunday worship. Cabins are available, or participants may bring tents.
Chili Cook-Off
Each January, the Chili Cook-Off organizes an annual fellowship event of fun and food for the whole family. RLC’s chili chefs compete for bragging rights and prizes in categories such as “Best Flavor,” “Most Unique,” and the coveted “Best Overall.”
Dinners For Eight
Dinners for Eight is an adult fellowship group that meets for dinner and the opportunity to know fellow disciples better. Four dinners are hosted per year, with groups of approximately 8 people. Group members change for each session. Hosts schedule the dinners; members bring food dishes. The entire membership meets together for a Christmas holiday celebration.
Easter Breakfast
The Easter Breakfast, served during the Discipleship Hour on Easter morning, is a wonderful way to celebrate this glorious day with food and fellowship. Bring one of your breakfast favorites. Sample new and tasty dishes! Celebrate Resurrection Day!
Lenten Dinners
Each Wednesday evening during Lent, the Lenten Dinners Ministry Team coordinates a light supper prior to worship services. Participants relax and enjoy food and fellowship prior to worship. The team meets seasonally during Lent, and is inactive the remainder of the year.
Welcome to Resurrection
The Welcome to Resurrection Ministry Team plans and hosts celebratory receptions to welcome new members into our congregation. Receptions are generally held two to three times each year.
