The following pages represent the culmination of a several-year process in transitioning our ministry structure to focus on ministry teams. This list is grouped based on how the ministry advances our mission through the key verbs in our Mission Statement (Welcome, Nurture, Equip, Serve), or supports our ministry in the areas of Caring and Administration. Many ministries overlap areas, but each ministry is identified with a primary focus. For each ministry team, the list includes the team name, the team leader (if one has been identified), the chartering statement which describes the focus of the ministry, and the person on the Steering Team who will serve as a resource to that ministry team. For some teams the resource person's name is preceded by a pound symbol (#). This indicates a temporary relationship until the Steering Team is filled out with its projected seven members - four program staff (Pastor Dave, Pastor Mitch, Julie Peralta, Sherry Andersen) plus three other members of the congregation (one of these roles has been filled by Byron Daugherty).

A colorful, visual display of our ministry structure can be found in the narthex on the bulletin boards opposite the restrooms. That display helps identify the previous ministries that have been picked up by a team and those ministries that are still waiting for a team to come forward. Additionally, there are a number of "Genesis Ministries" - new ministries that will be launched when a team is formed to carry them out.

If you are interested in participating in one of these ministries, you may contact the team leader (if one is identified) or the Steering Team Resource person.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Welcome mission of the congregation by overseeing Resurrection Life Course I which provides an introduction/orientation to the Lutheran Christian faith and Resurrection Lutheran Church.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Welcome mission of the congregation through intentional assimilation of new disciples into the life of Resurrection by accompanying them in the process of an introductory class and/or Resurrection Life Course 1, and guiding them into connecting relationships with others.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Welcome mission of the congregation by contacting and welcoming worship guests.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Welcome mission of the congregation by providing coordination and facilitation for the various roles related to the congregation’s worship, including providing training, scheduling, and support of Assisting Ministers, Acolytes, Lectors, Ushers, and Altar Guild.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Welcome mission of the congregation by overseeing and coordinating the various vocal and instrumental music groups.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Welcome mission of the congregation by exploring new worship resources, with particular attention to the Renewing Worship resources being produced by the ELCA in anticipation of a new worship hymnal.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Welcome mission of the congregation by providing safe and nurturing childcare during worship and other congregational events, including overseeing the staffing and functioning of the nursery.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Welcome mission of the congregation by overseeing hospitality ministries that occur before and after worship services, such as greeters and coffee hour.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Welcome mission of the congregation by coordinating regular fellowship events for the congregation.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Welcome mission of the congregation by coordinating fellowship meals prior to Lenten worship services.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Welcome mission of the congregation by coordinating a fellowship event following the Maundy Thursday worship service.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Welcome mission of the congregation by overseeing the stocking and upkeep of the kitchen, and providing advice and support to other teams that make use of the kitchen.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Welcome mission of the congregation by videotaping worship services and other special events that take place in the sanctuary.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Nurture mission of the congregation by overseeing Resurrection Life Course II which provides an introduction and discussion of "best practices" for the marks of discipleship.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Nurture mission of the congregation by facilitating the smooth functioning of the Sunday morning Discipleship Hour, including organizing and supplying classrooms, and the recruitment, scheduling, and support of teachers.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Nurture mission of the congregation by developing the Workshop Rotation Model curriculum for use in the elementary-age SS Discipleship during the Sunday morning Discipleship Hour.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Nurture mission of the congregation by coordinating ministries for children from birth to kindergarten (B2K), including the Tuesday Mornings group and Faith Stepping Stones #1-Becoming Family, #2-Raising a Preschooler, and #3-Entry into Kindergarten.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Nurture mission of the congregation by coordinating ministries for elementary age children (1st - 5th grade), including Faith Stepping Stones #4-My Bible and #5-Holy Communion.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Nurture mission of the congregation by coordinating ministries for middle school age youth, including Discipleship Hour, the Head to the Heart (H2H) confirmation program, and Faith Stepping Stones #6-Surviving Adolescence and #7-Confirmation.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Nurture mission of the congregation by coordinating ministries for high school age youth, including Discipleship Hour, Sunday evenings, summer trips, and Faith Stepping Stone #8-High School Graduation.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Nurture mission of the congregation by maintaining contact with and supporting RLC disciples who are attending college.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Nurture mission of the congregation by overseeing RLC's ChristCare Small Group Ministry system.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Nurture mission of the congregation by coordinating RLC's chapter of Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Nurture mission of the congregation by coordinating the adult education opportunities during the Sunday morning Discipleship Hour.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Nurture mission of the congregation by coordinating the Crossways 2-year intensive Bible study.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Nurture mission of the congregation by coordinating RLC's Vacation Bible School program.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Nurture mission of our congregation through the use of the dramatic arts, primarily in the context of worship, by assisting in the proclamation of the Gospel through presenting skits, liturgical dramas that serve as sermons, or dramatic presentations of the scriptures.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Nurture mission of the congregation by providing experiences of thoughtful intersection and dialogue between contemporary cinema and the Christian faith by using written resources, classes, film festivals, movie nights, clips, etc., to help educate moviegoers young and old to watch film with faithful discernment and to see God at work in our culture.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Nurture mission of the congregation by overseeing the RLC Library, including acquiring new materials, coordinating book fairs, and providing book discussion opportunities.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Nurture mission of the congregation by coordinating a monthly opportunity for fellowship and discussion.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Nurture mission of the congregation by coordinating the annual stewardship emphasis and the gathering of Estimates of Giving.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Nurture mission of the congregation by focusing on strengthening marital relationships through planning and executing a weekend workshop built around using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator as a tool to foster understanding ourselves and our partner. (Target date for this workshop is around Valentine’s Day, 2006)

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Equip mission of the congregation by overseeing Resurrection Life Course III which provides an opportunity to discover how God has SHAPEd us for ministry and explore where God may be calling us to serve.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Equip mission of the congregation by planning and leading opportunities for leadership development for members of the Congregation Council and Steering Team, ministry teams and leaders, and the congregation at large.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Serve mission of the congregation by overseeing Resurrection Life Course IV which provides resources and discussion on how to live out one's faith in daily life, including serving and sharing the faith with others.

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Serve mission of the congregation by coordinating ministries beyond the congregation that include the commitment of time and possibly finances. Examples include: Habitat for Humanity, Lutheran Disability Ministries, Learning in Northern Johnson County (LINC), the Christmas Sharing Wreath, Central Indiana Council on Aging (CICOA), Wheeler Mission, Prison Ministries, Group WorkCamp, and various food drives.

Serve others in the name of Christ

Chartering Statement: This team will advance the Serve mission of the congregation by providing funding for ministries beyond the congregation. Examples include: benevolence to the Indiana-Kentucky Synod and ELCA, ELCA Global Missions, I-K Synod Campus Ministry, Indianapolis Conference, Lutheran Child and Family Services Spiritual Growth, Perry Township Religious Education, Dayspring Center, Thai High School, Meals on Wheels, and Food for the Poor.

Chartering Statement: This team will support the Caring ministry of the congregation by establishing at RLC the Stephen Series: a ministry that provides trained and commissioned lay care-givers who - as an extension and aid to the pastoral office - provide one-on-one caring relationships to persons in crisis or experiencing other significant life challenges.

Chartering Statement: This team will support the Caring ministry of the congregation by duplicating and delivering videotapes of our weekly worship to those who are homebound due to chronic illness or aging issues.

Caring ministries support the ministry of Resurrection Lutheran Church by providing care for those within the congregation.

Chartering Statement: This team will support the Caring ministry of the congregation by bringing Holy Communion to our homebound on a frequent and regular schedule. Supplementing the Pastor’s approximately monthly visit, this team will be trained to bring the consecrated elements of bread and wine directly from our corporate worship to the home, leading a brief prayer liturgy at the home before sharing Communion.

Chartering Statement: This team will support the Caring ministry of the congregation by coordinating the provision of meals to assist people during difficult or transitional times, such as during or following hospitalization, at the birth of a baby, or following a death.

Chartering Statement: This team will support the Caring ministry of the congregation by providing a meal for the family following a funeral.

Chartering Statement: This team will support the Caring ministry of the congregation by coordinating the communication of prayer requests to the congregation via e-mail through the RLC website.

Chartering Statement: This team will support the Caring ministry of the congregation by producing a pictorial directory, working with a consultant from Olan Mills who will provide guidance for scheduling and executing the photography sessions, and the layout of the new directory.

Chartering Statement: This team will support the Administration ministry of the congregation by fulfilling the constitutional role of the Congregation Council and providing overall guidance to the mission and ministry of the congregation.

Chartering Statement: This team will support the Administration ministry of the congregation by overseeing the day to day ministry of the congregation, and providing coordination for and serving as resources to ministry teams.

Chartering Statement: This team will support the Administration ministry of the congregation by providing support and encouragement to rostered and program staff.

Chartering Statement: This team will support the Administration ministry of the congregation by developing personnel policies and creating a personnel handbook, including researching and providing personnel-related financial and benefits information.

Chartering Statement: This team will support the Administration ministry of the congregation by placing before the June semi-annual congregation meeting nominees for serving on the Congregation Council and as officers of the congregation.

Chartering Statement: This team will support the Administration ministry of the congregation by overseeing the upkeep of the interior of the RLC building.

Chartering Statement: This team will support the Administration ministry of the congregation by overseeing the upkeep of the RLC property and the exterior of the building.

Chartering Statement: This team will support the Administration ministry of the congregation by overseeing the financial affairs of the congregation, including the collection and recording of offerings, paying obligations, and providing reports to the Congregation Council, Steering Team, and at congregation meetings.

Administration ministries support the ministry of Resurrection Lutheran Church by providing the administrative infrastructure necessary for all of the other ministries to function.

Chartering Statement: This team will support the Administration ministry of the congregation by assessing the need for classroom space, investigating options for temporary classrooms, and presenting a proposal to the Congregation Council.
